Kaduna AGILE Trains Computer Teachers for scale up of Digital Skills Training to 78 additional Schools.

The Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE) Project Kaduna State is implementing a digital skills training program for adolescent girls in senior secondary schools in Kaduna State. The objective is to support the provision of basic digital literacy training and to establish a remote learning platform for secondary school students.

Under this program, Students are being equipped with digital literacy skills and knowledge that covers:

(a) using digital mobile devices

(b) searching, locating, assessing, and critically evaluating information found on the web

(c) Successfully navigating the non-linear medium of digital space

(d) learning, reading, and deducing information from visuals and audio

(e) creating new learning outputs using digital technology

(f) accessing online content

(g) networking and collaborating.

The training also includes online safety to prevent adolescents from predatorial behavior and exploitation.

For the expansion of the digital skills program, a total of 78 schools have been identified, and 82 computer teachers have been trained to start delivering the training to students on May 15, 2023. Recall that 156 computer teachers from 79 schools received a similar training for the implementation of the program in September 2022. With this, the total number of teachers trained is now 238.

During the cascade training, the teachers were introduced to the training manual developed in accordance with the UNESCO Digital Literacy Framework. At the end of the training, hard copies of the Student and Instructor Manuals were distributed to each school in preparation for the start of student training by May 15, 2023.
