Kaduna AGILE Trains 2000 on Effective Teaching Methods
The Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment has begun a weeklong training of 2000 teachers posted to the 155 secondary schools to be constructed under the AGILE Project in the 23 Local Governments of Kaduna State.
The training with the theme: Building Effective Next Generation Teachers was declared open by Her Excellency, the acting Governor of Kaduna State, Dr. Hadiza Sabuwa Balarabe. The training taking place at the 1000 capacity Auditorium of the Kaduna State University was graced by Top Government Officials, Civil Society Organization and Development Partners working in the education sector.
The training was organized by Kaduna AGILE Project in collaboration with the Kaduna State Teachers Service Board and supported by Ahmadu Bello University and the Federal College of Education, Zaria.
The Commissioner of Education, Hajiya Halima Lawal gave an overview of the AGILE Project and further explained that the focus of the AGILE Project is to support girls’ education and empowerment within families, communities, and schools by addressing demand-side constraints to girls through communication campaigns, engagement with traditional rulers, and advocacy education to create behavior change.
Topics of discussion include Leadership and Management Skills, Classroom Observation, Teaching Methodology and Strategies, Teaching Techniques, Class, and school record keeping, Teacher values, identity, and character development, Digital Literacy and E-Learning. Other topics include Climate Change and Environment, Safe Spaces, GBV, GRM, Understanding the different types of Learners, Variety of special needs and conditions, formal writing and emailing.
