Kaduna AGILE Project Launched by the Governor of Kaduna State, Malam Nasir Ahmad El-rufa’i

The Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE) Project, Kaduna State has been launched by the Governor Malam Nasir Ahmad El-rufa’i on Friday 12th May 2023 at the Umaru Musa Yar’adua Hall, Murtala Mohammed Square, Kaduna.

The implementation of the AGILE Project has gained tremendous momentum since it became effective in April 2021. Since March 2022 when full implementation began, the project has renovated a total of 779 classrooms, 2,629 WASH facilities provided 46,252 sets of furniture across the 550 schools in Kaduna. Furthermore, the project has completed the fencing  of 5 schools with 5 others currently ongoing. The State through the AGILE Project is also renovating GGSS Kawo and Barewa College Zaria.

On the provision of financial incentives to the poorest households, the project has provided 35,575 beneficiaries with scholarships under the conditional cash transfer scheme of the AGILE Project. The project is also establishing safe spaces across 142 schools and currently training 6,250 students on digital skills.

Present at the event are Senior Officials of the Kaduna State Government, the National Project Coordinator from the Federal Ministry of Education, Hajiya Amina Buba Haruna, State Project Coordinators from Kano and Katsina States, Development Partners, NGOs, Teachers, Students among others.

Goodwill messages from notable dignitaries including the Project Task Team Leader from the World Bank were delivered during the event.

The official launch ended with field visit to GGSS Kawo to assess the level of work done.

Recall that the AGILE Project was officially launched by His Excellency, President Muhammadu Buhari on 16th February 2023 at the Federal level.
